We planned Issue 27 as a celebration of connection — between London and Istanbul, between technology and creativity, between two cultures that have always found more common ground than the headlines suggest. Then the world intervened. Operation Epic Fury began on the night of Saturday 28 February. Iranian drones struck RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus. A ceasefire that was supposed to hold, didn't. And suddenly, the question of what it means to be both British and Turkish — to hold two countries in your heart at once — became not a cultural question but a geopolitical one. So this is a different kind of spring issue. It holds contradictions: breaking news alongside beautiful art, war alongside design, crisis alongside the quiet determination of communities that know how to endure. That, we think, is exactly what this magazine is for. Welcome to Issue 27.
