Istanbul’s Vento Games Raises $4 Million to Bring Family-Friendly Mobile Puzzles to the World
Founded in June 2024 by veterans of Peak Games, Fugo, and Zynga, Istanbul-based Vento Games has closed a $4 million seed round led by Makers Fund and Arcadia Gaming Partners. The studio’s mission — brain-training, visually rich puzzle games for all ages — has already produced Blossom Word Search, now live on Google Play and the App Store. TBMag introduces the team and the opportunity.
Istanbul has been producing world-class mobile games for longer than most people outside the industry realise. The city’s gaming ecosystem — anchored by Peak Games, acquired by Zynga for $1.8 billion in 2020, and the dozens of studios that have since spun out of that lineage — has demonstrated, repeatedly, that Turkish game developers can reach hundreds of millions of players globally with titles that combine casual accessibility with genuine creative depth. Vento Games, founded in June 2024, is the latest studio to emerge from that tradition — and this week it announced the $4 million seed round that will allow it to pursue its ambition at scale.
The round was co-led by Makers Fund, one of the gaming industry’s most respected specialist investors with a portfolio spanning mobile, console, and emerging platforms globally, and Arcadia Gaming Partners, a fund focused specifically on the mobile casual segment that Vento Games is targeting. The combination of investors signals both confidence in the team and recognition that the family-friendly, visually rich puzzle category — Vento’s chosen territory — remains one of the most durable and commercially attractive segments in mobile gaming.
The Team: Istanbul’s Most Experienced Puzzle Veterans
What distinguishes Vento Games from the generational wave of first-time mobile studios is its founding team’s depth of relevant experience. CEO Mustafa Dağlı, CTO Onur Aydınay, Lead Developer Emir Bilgin, and Art Director Murat Turan have between them contributed to some of the most downloaded mobile puzzle titles of the past decade.
The team’s collective credits include Words of Wonders and Words of Wonders: Search — word puzzle games that reached hundreds of millions of players globally and established themselves as leading titles in their category — as well as Okey Plus, the digital adaptation of the classic Turkish board game that became one of the most played mobile titles in Turkey and across the Turkish diaspora worldwide. Crucially, the team also played key roles in hidden object puzzle projects that reached tens of millions of downloads and culminated in successful IP acquisitions — a track record that demonstrates not just the ability to build popular games, but to build games with transferable, monetisable intellectual property value.
“We want to build games for every age — long-form, family-friendly, and visually rich. The puzzle category has proven staying power, and we believe there is significant white space for titles that combine genuine cognitive engagement with beautiful design.”
Blossom Word Search: The First Title
Vento’s first title under the new brand is Blossom Word Search, a flower-themed word puzzle game that launched on both Google Play and the App Store in the weeks before the funding announcement. The choice of a word search format — one of the most consistently popular puzzle mechanics in mobile gaming, with broad demographic appeal spanning players from children to seniors — reflects the studio’s strategic positioning: accessible enough to attract a mass audience, deep enough to retain it.
The flower theme is not merely decorative. In a crowded casual puzzle market, visual identity is a significant differentiator, and the combination of a cognitively satisfying word-search mechanic with a warm, nature-inspired aesthetic positions Blossom Word Search in a space that is distinct from the more abstract or competitive puzzle titles that dominate the charts. The game’s early reception will be closely watched both by Vento’s investors and by the broader Istanbul gaming community as a signal of the studio’s capacity to execute at the standard its team’s experience implies.

What the $4 Million Will Build
The seed round will be deployed against three priorities: portfolio expansion, technical infrastructure, and creative capacity. On the portfolio side, Vento has indicated its intention to develop a broader range of brain-training and mobile puzzle games within the family-friendly, visually rich space it has defined as its focus — meaning Blossom Word Search is the first of several titles, not a single bet. The technical infrastructure investment reflects the team’s understanding, drawn from their Peak/Fugo/Zynga experience, that the back-end systems that govern live operations, player analytics, A/B testing, and monetisation optimisation are as important to a game’s commercial performance as the front-end creative product. And the creative investment signals the studio’s commitment to the visual quality that its founding statement — ‘visually rich games’ — promises.
Istanbul Gaming: The Ecosystem Behind the Studio
Vento Games’ emergence is best understood in the context of the Istanbul gaming ecosystem that produced it. The city’s mobile gaming sector has undergone a significant maturation since the Peak Games acquisition: dozens of ex-Peak, ex-Gram Games, and ex-Dream Games alumni have founded or co-founded new studios, creating a talent density and knowledge-sharing culture that is unusual outside of the very largest global gaming hubs. Investment infrastructure has developed in parallel — Turkish gaming startups are now familiar with international venture capital, and international gaming funds, including Makers Fund, have become regular visitors to the Istanbul startup scene.
For TBMag’s readership — which includes both Turkish-origin tech and gaming professionals in the UK and British investors and industry observers with an interest in the Turkish market — the Vento Games round is a reminder that Istanbul’s gaming ecosystem is consistently producing ventures at international investment quality. Dream Games, the studio behind Royal Match, is the most celebrated recent example: a title that reached the top of the global casual gaming charts from an Istanbul studio. Vento Games has the team, the experience, and now the capital to pursue a similar trajectory in the puzzle segment.
The broader context for mobile gaming investment in early 2026 is also worth noting. The casual puzzle segment has demonstrated exceptional resilience through the post-IDFA turbulence that disrupted mobile advertising in 2021–22, with word and logic puzzle titles in particular maintaining strong retention and monetisation metrics. The family-friendly, all-ages positioning that Vento has chosen — targeting players from children to seniors under a single studio brand — is a deliberate strategy for building the kind of broad, loyal player base that supports sustainable long-term growth. With $4 million in the bank, a proven team, and a live title already in the market, Vento Games is well-positioned for its next chapter.
