UK Introduces ETA Requirement for European Visitors

UK Introduces ETA Requirement for European Visitors

From 2 April 2025, European travellers will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before visiting the UK. This follows the successful rollout of ETA for non-European countries, such as the US, Canada, and Australia.

What You Need to Know:

Applications open from 5 March 2025 for eligible European travellers.

ETA cost: £10, valid for multiple visits over two years.

Fast processing: Most applications will be approved within minutes.

Security enhancement: The UK government states the digital system will improve border security and enable contactless entry in the future.

📲 How to Apply: Travellers can apply via the UK ETA mobile app or GOV.UK. To avoid delays, it is advised to apply at least three working days before travel.

🚆 The UK government is working closely with airlines, ferry operators, and rail services to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.
