Cevdet Akman Explores the Human–Machine Relationship at London’s Espacio Gallery

Opening this January, Cevdet Akman’s latest solo exhibition, Mechanisation of Man, invites us to confront one of the most pressing questions of our time: how is technology reshaping what it means to be human?

From 21 to 27 January 2026, London’s Espacio Gallery will host this thought-provoking body of work. Akman, a seasoned artist with a deep academic lineage, examines the physical, biological, and psychological transformations of individuals in an era dominated by artificial intelligence, cybernetics, and digital systems.

The Dialogue Between Organic and Mechanical

The exhibition centres on Akman’s long-standing fascination with the delicate relationship between human beings, nature, and mechanisation. His work does not offer simple answers; instead, it raises critical questions about how technological progress alters our perception and identity.

Akman’s practice is deeply rooted in the discipline of drawing—a craft he has honed since childhood. His meticulous, layered compositions act as a bridge, referencing both the grandeur of Renaissance visual traditions and the sharp aesthetics of the contemporary digital age. Each piece is the result of an intensive, time-consuming process that reflects the artist’s unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and conceptual clarity.

Reflecting on Our Future

Mechanisation of Man is more than an art show; it is a space for reflection. It positions the viewer within the ongoing global debate about human consciousness, control, and our growing dependence on constructed systems.
