The results of the 2024 edition of “Life through a Woman’s Lens” photo contest have been officially announced, marking another milestone in what has become a pivotal platform for female photographers across Turkey. Hosted annually by Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik, this exclusive event continues to captivate and celebrate female artistic expression through photography.

In its 18th year, the contest themed “Life Itself,” attracted submissions from 1,470 female photographers who entered a staggering total of 4,988 photographs, all showcasing their unique perspectives on daily life. The first prize was awarded to Gülseren Boz for her poignant work titled “In Memory of Sarıkamış,” capturing a moment steeped in cultural heritage.

The second prize went to Nilgün Hocaoğlu for “The Weaver,” a detailed portrayal of traditional craftsmanship, while Zeliha Begöz secured the third place with “Labyrinth,” which beautifully captures complexity and intrigue. Special mentions were given to Elif Canarslan for “Chaos,” Gülçimen Okumuş for “Five Lives,” and Saadet Banu Nazikcan for “From Wood to Coal.”

Prizes and Recognition: The contest generously rewards the artistic efforts of its participants. The winner, Gülseren Boz, received a prize of 15,000 TL, with the second and third prizes being 12,500 TL and 10,000 TL respectively. Additionally, each of the special mention recipients was awarded 4,000 TL, and the owners of 38 exhibited works each received 1,000 TL.

A Legacy of Female Empowerment Through Art: “Life through a Woman’s Lens” stands as the only women-specific photo contest in Turkey, continually drawing more participants each year. Since its inception in 2007, over 28,000 women have submitted more than 107,000 photographs, making it a significant contributor to the socio-cultural and societal development of women in the country.

Esteemed Jury Panel: This year’s jury included notable figures such as Prof. Dr. Güler Ertan from Arel University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, acclaimed photographer İzzet Keribar, Prof. Nihal Kafalı from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, photographer Ali Rıza Akalın, and Tuğba Öcal, the Corporate Communication Manager at Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik.
