Ilyun Bürkev and Emre Engin Perform in London to Support ÇYDD Scholarship Programs

A Concert in Memory of Türkan Saylan in London
Renowned Turkish scientist and educator Türkan Saylan will be commemorated in London on her birthday with a special concert by pianist Ilyun Bürkev and violinist Emre Engin. Part of the concert proceeds will be donated to the scholarship programs of the Association for Supporting Contemporary Life (ÇYDD), which was founded by Saylan.
A Celebration of Türkan Saylan’s Legacy
Türkan Saylan, a dermatologist, academic, and dedicated advocate for girls’ education, is being honored through two significant events in London. A documentary on her life, produced by journalist Özlem Özdemir, will premiere on December 15, 2024, followed by a benefit concert on December 16, 2024.
The concert, hosted at St James’s Church, Paddington, will feature Ilyun Bürkev, a young pianist making her London debut, and Emre Engin, an accomplished violinist. The event is organized by Sectoral Events as part of the Türkan Saylan Memorial Activities.
Supporting Girls’ Education Through Music
Tickets for the concert will include a £5 donation to ÇYDD’s scholarship programs, supporting underprivileged students in their pursuit of education. Saylan’s enduring legacy as the founder and long-time president of ÇYDD continues to empower thousands of young women through educational opportunities.
Ilyun Bürkev, who is currently studying at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, expressed her pride and excitement about performing in London for the first time. She remarked:
“Playing in memory of Türkan Saylan, a visionary figure who dedicated her life to educating young girls, fills me with both honor and joy. Knowing that this concert will contribute to their education inspires me deeply.”
The event will conclude with a dinner at Kibele Restaurant in London. Reservations for tickets and dinner can be made via info@sectralevents.com.
