This year, eight projects will be supported, including two additional funds provided by Garanti BBVA. The Garanti BBVA Economic History Fund aims to offer sustainable contributions to research in this field. Content that interprets the institution’s archival collections or complements long-term studies will be prioritised during the evaluation process.
Since 2013, the funds have supported 80 projects in total, targeting studies that reflect local examples of societal transformations through interdisciplinary and multifaceted perspectives, make new resources accessible, or challenge prevailing assumptions with current findings.
Selected research projects will each receive funding of 70,000 TL following a two-stage application process. Pre-applications, which assess the content’s suitability in terms of subject, period, and research area, will remain open until 6:00 PM on Monday, February 17. Candidates whose projects pass this stage must submit final applications by Monday, March 17. Results will be announced on Tuesday, April 22.
This year’s evaluation process will be conducted by a Selection Committee comprising Dr. Özge Gençel (Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University), Dr. Emre Gönlügür (Izmir University of Economics), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kıvanç Karaman (Boğaziçi University), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ayşe Ozil (Sabancı University), Sezin Romi (Salt), and Lorans Tanatar Baruh (Salt).
The outcomes of the supported projects will be shared with the public for feedback and discussion during a presentation program scheduled for December.
Applications should be prepared in line with the following focus areas of Salt Research:
